Many elderly residents suffer from neglect and spend lonely days in solitary confinement waiting for death. Reports of senior citizens found in a state of exhaustion, starvation or freezing in the cold are not uncommon. Marleen van de Voorde, a trained nurse, has taken the fate of these forgotten seniors to heart. Together with a team of helpers she makes daily rounds in the city, delivering food, caring for the sick and lighting stoves.
