READ MORE‘Shadow of my soul’. Su-Ying Tjin-Tsai and Yilan Yuen are Dutch women of Chinese descent. Both are daughters of restaurant owners. Su-Ying is dedicated to gain recognition for the Chinese as a group in Dutch society. Yilan uses photography to explore her Chinese-Dutch identity. Laurens Kruis was a projectionist in various cinemas in The Hague, where Chinese films were screened from the 1960s onwards. It was at the movies where Su-Ying and Yilan saw their ancestors’ culture portrayed for the first time.
