Two-part portrait of Hungarian-Jewish composer Gyórgy Ligeti, who died at age 83 on 12 June 2006. He is considered one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. Presenting an array of different versions of his work, interviews with conductors and musicians (including Reinbert de Leeuw) and exclusive archive material from Ligeti’s estate, viewers are transported to a world of oppression and liberation, soundmasses and mechanics, humour and fastidiousness.
